July 14, 2006, Newsletter Issue #15: Properly Run Kitchens

Tip of the Week

Cooking classes often include kitchen management courses. Chef schools know that a kitchen needs particular procedures in order to run smoothly. Some of these things may include opening and closing the kitchen, what firing orders are and how to keep the kitchen safe and sanitized while cooking. The last part is important as a kitchen should not become dirty while preparing food. Proper kitchen management includes not only preparing delicious food, but also doing so safely and efficiently.
While taking cooking classes, don't forget to pay special attention to the kitchen management section or portion of the program.
